WINNIPEG, MANITOBA – The South Dakota State men's basketball team opened its Canadian Tour exhibition season on Monday with a 21-0 run over the University of Winnipeg Wesmen and never looked back in a 105-53 win.
Every Jackrabbit scored in the game, with senior Clint Sargent leading the way with a game-high 24 points. Newcomer Aeries Stephenson added 18, Nate Wolters 16 and Chad White 11 points in the win.
SDSU started strong, outscoring Winnipeg 29-10 in the first quarter and then finished even stronger with a 31-10 edge in the fourth quarter.
The Jacks return to action north of the border on Tuesday, when they travel across town to play the University of Manitoba Bisons at 7:30 p.m.
After a day off on Wednesday, SDSU plays Winnipeg again on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. before wrapping up the Canadian tour on Friday at Manitoba at 7:30 p.m.
