One of Sioux Falls' own neighborhoods has been ranked in the top ten best neighborhoods in the nation.
We take you to this neighborhood that is getting some national recognition.
It's this Sioux Falls neighborhood that was voted one of the greatest places in America.
"I think it's great to say in Sioux Falls' own backyard they have one of these neighborhoods that are comparable with some of the other great neighborhoods throughout America," Brent O'Neil said.
From Victorian homes to historical markers, city of Sioux Falls urban planner Brent O'Neil says the "Cathedral Historic District" was given it's name in the early 1970's.
"When you look at the neighborhood, it does meet tremendous historic characteristics and it was also a time to begin preserving our older structures so they went hand-in-hand," O'Neil said.
Preserving history is what homeowners and city leaders are still doing today.
"The historical district gives everyone a little extra motivation to really maintain the character and the history of the neighborhood," O'Neil said.
And it's that pride that has paid off.
"This designation is a reflection of the residents efforts to make this a great neighborhood and all these efforts have come together and have made the neighborhood what it is today," O'Neil said.
9 other cities made the list -- including Denver, Boston and Oak Park, Illinois.
The study was done by the American Planning Association.
