Erik Thorstenson joined the KSFY-TV news team in 1995 as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter and took over as KSFY’s Sports Director in 1997.

Erik grew up in Sioux City , Iowa and graduated from the University of South Dakota.  During college, he got his first taste of broadcasting at WNAX Radio in Yankton.

After school, Erik worked three years as a news/sports reporter at KTIV-TV in Sioux City.

Erik has won several Associated Press awards including Best Sportscast three times.   He was the 2006-07 South Dakota High School Coaches Association Sportscaster of the Year.

Erik and his wife Amy live in Sioux Falls and are the proud parents of daughters Kate and Brooke, and son Luke.

Erik can be seen weekdays at 6:00p.m. and 10:00p.m. on KSFY News.
