After 9 days off, Brian returns from vacation.

By Brian Allen

So after 9 days off, I am back in the building here at KSFY.

I am actually a little happy about it. I'm one of those people who can only be away from work for so long before I start to go a little stir crazy and have to get back to work.

Please don't get me wrong: I enjoyed my time off. Mandy, the boys and I finished moving into a new house and we spent a lot of our days having picnics in park and generally playing around with Austin and Cameron. We spent some time at the splash pool at McKennan Park and spent this entire past Saturday in Tea for "Tea Pot Days". We played in the park during the day and Saturday night we listened to some music (most of it provided by Mitch Krebs' group) and then just as rain started to fall, they had the fireworks show. It was a good show and Austin was amazed.

During this time off, Cameron also made the transition from baby to little boy. He will turn 1 on June 29th. He now exhibits little boy traits; his personality is really starting to shine through. He's got a couple more teeth now and is working more on standing on his own; he is going to be walking very soon. Where is the time going? Boom and he'll be 13 years old! It makes me feel a little old and a little sad.

As for me and Mandy, we spent most of the time hanging pictures and unpacking some boxes. We did so much work in between the time with the boys that, at times, it didn't feel like much of a vacation. I knew it was a vacation when I pulled out of the driveway this afternoon and Austin waved good-bye to me with a sad little look on his face. That's when it hit me that Daddy was going away and Austin was sad. It got to me a little bit but then I realized it's one of those little hard parts of life that has to be.

Many thanks to my guest bloggers who "covered my shift" while I was away. They are all good friends of mine and I thank them for stepping up and stepping in while I was off with the fam.

So, I'm back. It's good to be back. I spent part of my time off thinking about topics and ideas I want to discuss with you over the coming days. I can't wait to get your thoughts and reactions!
