The words of reminder at the Allen house: Faith, Hope & Love

By Brian Allen

 Whenever I have to be away from home for an extended period of time, it always worries me because I'm not sure what Mandy will do to the house.

 Once, when I was gone for a week and a half long business trip, I came back and most of the furniture in the house had been moved around to new and different areas. I am not the world's biggest fan of change, especially when it involves the comforts of my home. Thus the problem which faced me when I left for Italy. I wondered if I would come home to another car in the garage or a petting zoo in the backyard. Before I left I actually asked Mandy "You're not going to move the furniture around are you?"

 So while i was gone in Italy, I wondered what new and "exciting" change I would find when I returned. Turns out while I was away, Mandy went ahead and stenciled three words above the front door of our home; those words being "Faith Hope & Love". When I came back home, my eyes were instantly drawn to them and I thought it was one of the most wonderful things she could have ever done for the house and for me and the boys.

 Everytime we leave the house, those words will be in our line of sight, to remember and to carry out into the world with us;

 Faith: To believe in better and brighter days to come. Also, a reminder of the Faith that exists through the belief in a higher power.
 Hope: To never lose sight of your goals and a reminder that dreams are what make life worth living.
 Love: To always cherish those in your heart and to let those special people know how much you care for them.

 The words are so simple but their meaning to me and Mandy is invaluable. They will be the pillars of what we hope to teach our boys in the coming years. Sometimes the most important lessons are the simplest ones; lessons which can be relayed through the use of three words. Three important words.

 Quote Of The Day: "Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith." St. Francis Of Assisi

 This Day In History: Actor and director Orson Welles died in Hollywood at the age of 70 on this date, October 10th, 1985.

 Something You Should Check Out: One of the DJ's from the old era of Top 40 is a guy named Big Ron O'Brien. He is originally from Iowa but ended up working at some of the biggest radio stations in the country. I was fortunate enough to strike up a friendship with him before he died. I like to listen to airchecks of his work whenever I can. Please enjoy this offering from Big Ron on WCFL Radio in Chicago from 1973.
