Another day of severe weather.
7:56PM CDT: The most intense areas of the storms have left the viewing area and I don't see any building behind it. Looks like the rest of the evening will be pretty nice, but the winds are going to pick up! If anything else happens I'll let you know! Thanks again for tuning into the blog.
7:33 PM CDT: Hey! We finally got a report. 4 miles northwest of Irene in Yankton County hail was reported at 0.75 inches. That is BARELY severe.
7:21PM CDT: The warning has just been canceled for Yankton and Clay counties. It still looks intense, but is starting to get a bit unorganized. The city of Vermillion is in the path of this storm. We haven't got any reports recently about what is falling from this cell.
7:15PM CDT: The storm is packing quite a punch, as least it looks that way. The bulk of the cell might miss the city of Yankton, but the city will still see a thunderstorm and heavy rains most likely.
7:06PM CDT: I should include the expiration time for the warning in Clay and Yankton Counties. It goes until 7:30PM
7:02 PM CDT: A new SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Clay and Yankton Counties. Looks like a hail producer. Titan actually had a track on it a minute ago, but it has since gone away.
6:34PM CDT: Starting to watch some strong development in Hutchinson County. I just turned on Titan's storm tracks and as of now there are none in our area.
The storm that was near Sioux Falls has shifted even more to the south and may miss the city all together. There seems to be a magic dome over the Sioux Falls area that keeps storms away because they always turn away at the last moment (that's a good thing).
The cell in Brookings County is crossing into Moody County. It still looks pretty strong, but not severe. Pipestone county also looks to be in the path of the storm.
6:14PM CDT: All SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS have been canceled for the time being. One cell is pushing towards SW Sioux Falls and another seems to be taking aim on Southern Brookings County.
5:54PM CDT: The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has just continued the warning for Hanson, Lake, McCook, Miner, and Sanborn counties until 6:15PM CDT. It looks like the worst has moved into McCook county.
I'm also watching a cell in Kingsbury and Brookings County moving towards Brookings. It looks pretty healthy, but does not have a warning with it.
Tune in to KSFY Live at 6 for Live weather information.
5:46PM CDT: The severe thunderstorm warning for Lake, Miner has been cancelled. This still leaves part of those counties under warnings (see 5:32 post).
5:32PM CDT: Alright. Got to play catch up now that the show is over. The warning for Beadle, Kingsbury, Miner and Sanborn counties has expired. There are two more warnings to tell you about.
There is a new SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Lake and Miner counties until 6:00PM CDT.
Another warning that just came out after the show was over. It is a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING Hanson, Lake, McCook, Miner, and Sanborn until 6:15PM CDT.
4:53PM CDT: A new SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Beadle, Kingsbury, Miner, and Sanborn counties until 5:30PM. We'll have lots of weather during KSFY Live at 5.
4:45PM CDT: Well just in time for the 5 PM show we've had severe thunderstorms break out, once again. One warning was issued for Brown, Day, and Spink counties, but that has since expired. However, there was a report of a funnel cloud with this storm at one point, although no Tornado Warning was issued.
We have a new Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Clark and Hamlin counties until 5:00 PM CDT. We're going to have a full rundown right off the top of KSFY live at 5 so tune in!
