Hurricane Bertha Update 7/9/2008, 4:00 am

Tools

By Derick Fabert

This will probably be my last update for the storm. As of now the storm has significantly weakened to a category 1 storm and looks to head back out to sea. Actually, its maximum sustained winds are down to 75mph, which is barely a hurricane. There is a chance of a slight strengthening, but it is not expected to become as strong as it was before.

The storm remains a long way from Burmuda with 790 miles to go. Current forecast have the storm generally missing the island although there is a chance that the western half may graze the island. The western half is the weaker side, so that's additional good news. The strength is expected to be a weak hurricane through the next few days and actually becoming a tropical storm once again by Monday morning.
