Tropical Update

Tools

By Derick Fabert

Alright, I haven't done one of these in a while, but I think this mornings outlook warrants a little update.

Lets start with Tropical Storm Bertha, which has been quite the little pest and won't go away. Its actually forecasted to head back south toward Bermuda. The island isn't going to take a direct hit but could be getting some more rain. The storm looks to turn to the east later this week and heading back out to sea. Also, it looks like the storm will not become a hurricane again.

The Gulf of Mexico is what grabbed my attention this morning. There is an area of development west of Florida that could span a small tropical depression. Obviously nothing major is likely to happen, but this is telling me that the Gulf is already prepared to handle hurricane activity. A sign that if a strong hurricane makes it into the gulf it could be sustained or even get stronger. We'll have to watch the situation daily to see what will happen.
