So it's no secret my wife is a volleyball coach in the area. I've learned more about volleyball since I've met her than I can imagine...I always joke with her I should preface my stories by saying "so I saw this volleyball player" and then go on with my story....so she'll remember as she gets so engulfed with her team during her season (and that's OK coach if you are reading this) that she zones me out (or maybe she's just zoning me out as what I'm telling her is the last thing on her mind) .
anyways, the other day, I had to interview her....while waiting for her to arrive at my camera, i spoke to Matt Zimmer of the Argus and told him how uncomfortable i was doing this interview.....he laughed....and agreed....that it certainly would be difficult....
it's just weird "interviewing" your wife....she's my wife....I don't look at her as a coach....or another person to get sound from....normally I b-s with a coach before the interview, but not on this day...I just put the mic on, and asked away.....I really don't even remember what i asked....nor did I have a plan of attack...like I usually do....it was more of, get the questions in and get this over with....the sooner the better....
Thor asked me how it was, and I told him i don't know if I got the sound he wanted as I was in such a hurry to get the whole thing done with I have no idea what she said.....
I've interviewed countless professional athletes, governors, mayors...etc...and I've never been as nervous as I was early this week....I'm sure it will come up again where I'll have to speak to her....but I know it won't be any different....I still get uncomfortable talking to my wife...I mean coach....
so to my wife, if I looked like an idiot, I apologize....I was so nervous/uncomfortable that I was trying do a decent job yet get the interview over as fast as possible.
