What A Game!

By Leslie Rupiper

I was a little bummed that I had to work last night during the All-Star Game, but I knew fiance Thom would have it saved on his DVR, so I figured I could check out some of it that way.  Little did I know, that when I left work last night, the game would still be going! As Twins fans, I was very interested in how Joe Mauer, Joe Nathan and Justin Morneau would do.  Because I was watching so late, I only got to see Morneau in action, but he certainly didn't disappoint.  As if winning the Home Run Derby wasn't enough...he was the winning run that gave the American League another victory.

As the game was going into it's 13th inning, and pitchers were hard to come by on each side, I wondered if Bud Selig would have to "call" the game.  After all, these guys have to go back to the real world of baseball later this week...some as soon as Thursday. They were already forced to put in players who's respective coaches had asked they not play, because they'd pitched so recently.  In the end, Justin Morneau started the hitting spree that brought the game to an end.  Still, it will always go down as the longest All-Star Game in history.  Even if you're a National League fan, I'll bet few could deny that is was a great game.
