As autumn takes hold, it's only natural that the sunny adventures of summer officially draw to a close. That's the case at my future in-laws' cabin at Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. Thom's mom recently sent a bunch of pictures of another moose near their cabin. This one is even bigger than the others I've seen before. Thom's mom says she's never seen as many moose in one season as she has this past summer. The big guy you see here, was just yards from their cabin. In fact, Thom's mom was inside reading, when see says she could feel someone or something looking at her. I could see where this moose would have a pretty obvious stare.
Thom just got another note from his mom today, saying the fishing is still good and that she and Thom's dad are trying to soak up as much of the season as possible. I have been at the cabin in the winter months, and it's beautiful in the snow. But of course there isn't the wildlife you see right now. The latest pictures from Thom's family show about 4 deer munching on grass beside the cabin. She also sent photos of a family of geese...or were they ducks...enjoying an early autumn swim.
It's always fun getting the pictures in the mail. It's like a home away from home for me, and it's fun to see it change with the seasons. I doubt Thom and I will get back to the cabin before the snow flies this year. But seeing pictures like the one here, makes us feel like we're not missing as much.
