Thanks to the milder weather on Sunday (we topped out at 41), I was able to get out in the garage and grill some burgers for dinner. As I was flipping the burgers and trying to avoid burning them to a crisp, I heard some kids playing outside across the street. At first, I didn't think anything of it. Then it hit me...I hadn't heard or seen kids playing outside in a long, long time. It had been so darn cold that, even covered with many layers of winter clothing, it was pretty much unbearable to be out of the house for very long. It took me back to those warm summer days when you'd hear children playing and birds singing most of the day.
Unfortunately, bitter cold and wind is coming back so my spring fever will soon disappear. But, looking on the bright side, this cold snap doesn't look like it'll stick around as long as the last one.
