Something About The Sunrise

By Phil Schreck

I don't know how many times I've seen a sunrise in my life, but it's a big number. However, every time I see one, it does something for me.

Take this morning for example. I was taking the kids to school and the very top of the sun was just barely coming up over the horizon at 7:32. I pointed it out to the 5 kids in the van and they thought it was pretty cool too.

A few minutes later the sun was completely above the eastern horizon and, because of the hazy sky, it looked really huge and red and quite impressive.

I don't know what it is about the sun rising that fascinates me every time I see it. Maybe these words from James Taylor's song "Another Day" sum it up....

"Morning light has driven away
All the shadows that hide your way
And night has given away
To the promise of another day
Another chance that we may
Finally find our way"
