One Tough Bunny

By Chris Studer

It's tough for me to say, but I got laughed at more than a few times in my time as a South Dakota State athlete about our logo. Some people asked if I played baseball for Looney Tunes University (The Bugs Bunny look-alike and all). But now all that's changed, for the most part anyway.

The new Jackrabbit is tough looking at least. I think they did a great job with it, 'cause let's face it, making a rabbit look tough isn't easy. I think I like it. It'll have to grow on me a little, but nobody can say it's a friendly little rabbit anymore. It's hard for me to embrace change sometimes, but I think this is a change for the better.

It's really a new era in Jackrabbit Athletics in my mind. As someone who wore the Jackrabbit logo on my chest for 5 years, in some ways I wish it could've come earlier. But I'm still proud of the logo I played under,  "Wascally Wabbit" jokes and all.

I wish the SDSU athletes of today and the future all the best, and hope they wear the new rabbit as proud as the rest of us wore the old one.
