So Many Visits

Tools

By Chris Studer

Apparently South Dakota is a big deal now. It seems like we've seen more presidential candidates through this state in the last week than we have in the last 50 years. Not that I would know who was here 50 years ago, but I'm just imagining that's true. Maybe it's not. But Hillary's been here twice, Barack's here for a long time today. Bill Clinton's been here twice in the last week too. They're crawling all over.

I think it's great, no matter what side of the aisle you pull for, that our state is getting a little "pub" lately. And it's always cool to see famous people up close right? We need more of that. I'd like to see South Dakota get more national news coverage, more people knowing what the state is all about.

I didn't grow up here. I'm from our neighbor to the east. But I really like it here. I don't like the wind. But I do like it here. I guess I don't like the cold either. But I like everything else. That's why I stay. So I really would like to see South Dakota come to the forefront. These campaign visits aren't the answer obviously. But I think it can be a start. If these presidential candidates actually become president, I hope they remember what they said when they were here. We all know politicians often times say what the people they're talking to want to hear. But let's hope that South Dakota can get a little good publicity through this, and let's hope these big timers remember what they told our little state, and then come through.
