I Got Dunked

Tools

By Chris Studer

Imagine me and my not-so-sleek physique crawling onto a chair that's a little two small for my rear-end and getting dunked into a small bucket of water. That's how I spent my Thursday evening last week.

I got all wet for a very good cause though. I sat in the dunk tank to raise money for the new Ronald McDonald House at Sanford. It was a good time, even though I swallowed a couple gallons of the not-so-clean water in that dunk tank. Notice there are no pictures associated with this post. They were taking pictures, but I'm guessing the ones of me in a wet white t-shirt aren't fit for publication.

It was out in the front yard of the Birdcage (The Sioux Falls Canaries Baseball Stadium for those of you who don't live around here). I sat out there for two hours, and got dunked about a dozen times. My good friend Ben Davis from MIXX 97.3 was out there too. I'd have to say he left a little drier than I did. I'm still a little bitter about it if you can't tell.

A few friends came by and tried to dunk me. My friend Jon brought his wife and two little boys. His 4 year-old son dunked me on the first shot. Jon however...fortunately did not.

A former KSFY colleague Shannon Stevens showed up at about 7:03 (I was scheduled to be done at 7:00) and decided she wanted a shot. So just for her I decided to get back in the "chair of death" (That's my new name for it). So what did she do? Dunked me on the first shot of course. I'm pretty sure she dunked me again too, but I don't remember much after the first one.

But it was all in good fun, and of course for a good cause. So if I ever get the chance again I'll take a few dunks if it means some families can have a good night's rest when there kids are in the hospital...
