It was quite an opening Sunday to the NFL season. I actually got to watch a few of the games too, and sat through most of the highlights. Here's my take on a couple.
If you're an NFL fan at all, you know about Tom Brady's injury. (He got drilled in the knee when he threw a pass if you didn't hear) It sort of makes me sick to my stomach to hear the news too. Even if you don't like the guy, or hate the Patriots, you've got to feel bad for a guy that has (most likely) lost his entire season because of an injury in the first game.
The worst part for him is going to be the rehab he'll have to go through, if he did tear something in his knee. I had a pretty bad injury in college (my wrist), had surgery, and had to do some rehab. I didn't rehab as much as I should've either (and my wife still digs me about it when she can). I can tell every day too because I still have problems with it. But I can't imagine having to rehab a knee, and get it back to world-class strength. It'll take some major committment. But when you make a gazillion (is that how you spell that?) dollars a year to play football, I'm sure he'll be committed.
On the Brett Favre front, it was good to see him back on the field. I didn't watch the game, but saw some highlights. He looks like the same old Brett. Flinging the ball all over the field. But I'm happy he's back, and happy he got his first win. The thing I'm most happy about is that he's not throwing the ball for the Packers anymore.
And that brings me to tonight. The big Monday Night Football game: Vikes v. Pack. I'm pretty excited to see how the Vikes come out at Lambeau, and how Aaron Rodgers does in his big debut. I'm really excited that it's an early kickoff too. That means I get to watch some of it before I go to bed. Unless my daughter wants to watch Cinderella or something. It seems those darn Disney princesses always win out over football in my house...
