1st new elementary school in 43 years opening in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - A new school is opening in Aberdeen for the first time in a dozen years.

The American News reports (http://bit.ly/2bJ9JHd ) that Mike Miller Elementary opens Tuesday, with about 200 students expected to be in attendance.

It's the first new elementary in the city in 43 years, and the first new school since Central High opened in 2004.

Officials started construction on the $7.4 million elementary about a year ago. It's named for an Aberdeen businessman and former school board president who died in 2014.
