A cold front blasted across the Dakotas overnight and that will bring cooler, windy weather to start the week. Today will be mostly sunny with high temps in the mid to upper 50s. Wind will be from the northwest gusting to between 40 and 50 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect for almost all of South Dakota, southwestern Minnesota and northwestern Iowa through today.
The strong wind and dry conditions mean an increased grassland fire danger risk today. Don't burn and be careful when working in dry farm fields today. Keep an eye on your machinery and do a double check to be sure you know where your fire extinguishers are, that they're working and that you know how to use them.
Tomorrow will also be windy but not quite as windy as today. The wind will die down and temps will jump back into the 60s by Wednesday with much cooler weather by the end of the week.
