Authorities searching for escaped inmate

YANKTON, S.D. (KSFY) - Authorities are looking for a state prison inmate who they say walked away from his assigned unit.

The South Dakota Department of Corrections says 42-year-old Alvin Williams left the Yankton Community Work Center Tuesday morning without permission.

Authorities say he was last seen wearing a green parka with a hood, khaki pants, black boots and white gloves.

Williams is described as 5' 7" tall, weighing about 200 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes.

He was sentenced in June 2002 to 25 years in prison for a conviction of aggravated assault from Minnehaha County.

Anyone who sees Williams or knows of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
