Belle Fourche man wins $50,000 top scratch ticket prize

Cory Seaman’s wife, Vanessa, was having a birthday this month but unlike other husbands, the Belle Fourche man had no trouble coming up with the perfect gift – a top prize winning scratch ticket worth $50,000.

Cory cashed in his Queen of Hearts scratch ticket at the Rapid City Lottery office Wednesday but only after Vanessa got it first.

“I scratched it off at home the morning after I bought it,” Cory said. “When I figured out it was a $50,000 winner, I wrapped it up and gave it to her for her birthday. Her birthday wasn’t actually until today but I couldn’t wait so I handed it to her last night.”

The winning ticket was purchased at CBH Travel Center on U.S. Hwy 85 in Belle Fourche. Cory, who plays a little bit of lotto as well as scratch tickets, usually buys his lottery tickets there.

The $50,000 top prize is the largest amount the Seamans have won playing the lottery but they’re already prepared for what to do with their winnings.

“We have 7 kids so we’re going to invest in college funds,” he said.

The $5 Queen of Hearts scratch ticket game became available for sale at all lottery retailers on May 29, 2017. One $50,000 top prize remains to be won in the game.
