Board votes to save historic Sioux Falls home

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KSFY) - In a unanimous vote, the Sioux Falls Historic Preservation Board has voted against demolishing a Sioux Falls home.

The board says destroying the historic home in the 400 block of North Spring Avenue would be "adverse to the neighborhood." The home was built in 1891.

A few years ago Advantage Investments bought the property and rented it out, but after an inspection the company is planning to demolish the house. Many neighbors are fighting to save it.

The city board's recommendation now moves to the city planning commission. If Advantage Investments continues seeking a demolition, the South Dakota historic preservation office may get involved.
