Brewster dedicates new veterans memorial

BREWSTER, Minn. (KSFY) - The community of Brewster, Minnesota, has a newly-redesigned memorial to remember our nation's fallen heroes.

The memorial's Walk of Honor features panels engraved with the names of more than 250 Brewster-area veterans.

The centerpiece of the memorial is a bronze statue of Sgt. Kyle Miller kneeling in prayer. Miller died in Iraq 11 years ago while serving with Brewster veteran Thomas Behrends.

Behrends said Sgt. Miller's mother is grateful for the tribute to her son.

"She never in her wildest dreams thought that there would be a bronze made of her son," he said. "If this gives her a little bit of peace and a little bit of closure, that her son didn't die in vain, then that's all a part of it too."

Commander Behrends suggested using Miller's image when designs for the memorial began three years ago.
