SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Empire Home Show and the state wrestling tournament are both going on Friday and Saturday. A free shuttle from the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds will be provided and carpooling is encouraged because of the large crowd expected. The home show and the tournament will both go on Friday and Saturday but the home show will last one more day through Sunday.
About 12,000 people are expected to attend the home show. More than 250 exhibits that will highlight new products and services for the home will be set up at the Sioux Empire Home Show. They will be scattered throughout the Sioux Falls Convention Center and Arena. The home show will be on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
Even though there is free parking on site, attendees are encouraged to carpool. A free shuttle service will also be provided from the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Drivers are asked to park in the east paved parking lot of the fairgrounds. The shuttle will then pick people up from there starting at 8:00 AM on Friday and Saturday and it will end at 11:00 PM on Friday and 10:00 PM on Saturday.
It costs $7 for adults to get into the home show. Children who are under the age of 12 will get in for free. Seniors who are 65 years old or older pay $6 on Friday and a weekend pass is available for $10. You can get a discounted ticket for $6 at any Sioux Falls Lewis Drug locations or at Sunshine Foods in Brandon.
There will be free workshops held all day on Saturday. A few of the topics include remodeling and flooring trends and home inspection benefits. They start at 11:00 AM and run through 6:00 PM. A schedule of the workshops can be found in the related links section of this article.
The first home show was held in 1959 with just more than 100 exhibitors. The admission was only $0.50.
