Cat killed in Sioux Falls mobile home fire

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Officials say a pet cat did not survive a mobile home fire Thursday morning.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a report of a fire involving a cord or wire around 7:10 a.m. in the 200 block of N. Primrose Pl.

Upon arrival, crews reported seeing flames coming from windows on one end of the home. A man and his pet rabbit were outside when crews arrived. No one else was home.

The fire was under control in about 10 minutes. Firefighters located the pet cat after searching the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with four fire units, three support units, 19 firefighters and a Chaplain. Sioux Falls Police units, the Red Cross, MidAmerican Energy, Xcel Energy and Sioux Falls Public Works also responded to assist.
