SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - City officials in Sioux Falls have declared a snow alert as crews work to clear streets after a blizzard moved through the area.

The snow alert was issued at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, though plowing of emergency routes began Monday, according to the Public Works Street Division.

Plowing in Zone 3 began Tuesday morning. Plowing of east/west streets of Zone 2 will begin Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. Plowing of north/south streets of Zone 2 will begin Wednesday morning. Snow pickup operations in Zone 1 will begin Thursday morning.

Any vehicles parked on streets being plowed are subject to ticketing and towing until the street has been cleared, city officials say.
