SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - The Compass Center in Sioux Falls held a forum at the University Center Wednesday for higher education providers to address sexual violence on campus.
Those in attendance discussed schools' response to survivors, community services that are available and requirements of schools under federal law.
School officials said they want to shed light on a serious problem on campuses across the country.
"It's really engaging," Augustana University director of Campus Safety Rick Tupper said. "All the people involved in figuring out -- how do you reduce it? Can we stop it completely? Probably not, but then more importantly once it does happen -- what resources are available and how do we deal with it?"
Attendees said the event also gave them the opportunity to exchange information with other schools in the area.
