Cyclists brave cold temperatures for annual New Year's Day Ride

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Some Sioux Falls cyclists did not let the frigid temperatures stop them from a beloved tradition.

Spoke-N-Sport held the 31st annual New Year's Day Ride on Monday.

Bikers rode from Spoke-N-Sport on Minnesota Avenue down to Falls Park and back, about four miles round-trip.

"If you ever want to try it, put it on your bucket list, come try it next year. It's every year," cyclist Travis McKnelly said.

Temperatures hovered around 14 degrees below zero at the time of the ride.

Cyclists told KSFY News while this is one of the coldest years they can remember, they have faced worse driving conditions on past rides.
