SIOUX FALLS - The Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science has a new leader.

Wednesday, Darrin Smith was introduced as the new president and CEO of the arts, entertainment and science complex.

He replaces Scott Peterson, who announced in February that he was stepping down in May. Peterson served as co-president with Larry Toll since September 2013, then took over as president when Toll retired last November.

Smith is currently the Director of Community Development for the City of Sioux Falls. He is expected to begin working at the Pavilion on May 31.

The Washington Pavilion is a regional entertainment, cultural and educational facility, located in the historic former Washington High School in downtown Sioux Falls. It features the Visual Arts Center, Kirby Science Discovery Center, Wells Fargo CineDome Theater and Husby Performing Arts Center.
