De Smet celebrates 150 years of Laura Ingalls Wilder

Laura Ingalls Wilder’s 150th birthday was celebrated this weekend in DeSmet.

Fans from all over the world visited the creator of the Little House on the Prairies’s former home during the three day event.

Each year more than fifteen thousand Little House fans from across the nation visit the Ingalls’ home and museum.

Several actors from the 'Little House on the Prairie' TV-Series also attended.

“I would say, it's a pretty unique thing to be adored the way we are because of the association with this program, and I think, if you look back forty years ago when all this started, I don't think any of us would have imagined the opportunity to be, to come to places like this, that are so central to the stories that we told, and be celebrated for it; it's really cool,” actor from the Little House on the Prairie television show Dean Butler said.

Hundreds of people were in De Smet for this three day event.
