(KSFY) - The United States Department of Transportation is now accepting public comments about a controversial rule that would impact trucking regulations.
The proposed mandate would require truck drivers to have electronic logging devices (ELD) in their vehicles at all times.
Many drivers, particularly those from smaller operations, have voiced concerns that they would be unfairly impacted by the rule.
The law was scheduled to go into effect December 18, but the Department of Transportation delayed the roll out in order to receive more input from the public. South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds said officials are interested in hearing from truckers who transport agricultural commodities, including those who transport live-loads.
