SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Police say a driver has been taken to a hospital with serious injuries following a three-car crash in north Sioux Falls.

Sgt. Candi Gearman with the Sioux Falls Police Department said officers responded to the crash at 5 p.m. Monday near Russell Street and Kiwanis Avenue.

The accident happened when an 18-year-old man was driving a 2013 Ford Focus eastbound on Russell and rear-ended a Dodge pickup, Gearman said. The Focus then lost control, crossed the median and hit a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer heading westbound on Russell.

The occupants of the pickup and SUV were transported to a hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Focus was cited for reckless driving and muliple other charges.

The crash is under investigation.
