SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Community and state leaders did their part to raise awareness about drunk, drugged and distracted driving on Wednesday.
People from across the community participated in the 4D Kickoff, which promoted awareness of the dangers of driving while distracted or under the influence.
Participants got the chance to operate a driving simulator under real-life scenarios to get first-hand experience of the dangers.
Organizers of the event said awareness is important, especially around the holidays.
"We want people to stay sober, have a designated driver, celebrate the holidays, but keep it safe," Volunteers of America Highway Safety Coordinator Eric Majeres said.
If you need a ride home over the holiday season, make sure to get a designated driver, use Lyft or take advantage of AAA's Tipsy Tow service, and also make sure to eliminate all distractions in your car while driving.
