SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Just in time for Easter, many South Dakota families in need will have access to eggs thanks to a Flandreau company.
On Tuesday, Dakota Layers donated more than 10,000 eggs to Feeding South Dakota.
They've made big donations in the past, but they weren't able to the last couple years.
Their farm was hit hard by the bird flu outbreak back in 2015.
But they have recovered, and have partnered with the SDSU men's and women's basketball teams.
"We're gonna donate a dozen eggs for every free throw made by SDSU in the Frost Arena," executive vice president of Dakota Layers Jason Ramsdell said. "SDSU, both men's and women's, made just over 650 free throws this year. We wanted to round it up to 900 dozen eggs that we'll donate to Feeding South Dakota."
The eggs donated will feed about 900 families.
