Gov. Daugaard requests flags at half-staff Monday for Rep. Tieszen's funeral

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KSFY) - Gov. Dennis Daugaard has requested that all flags in the state be flown at half-staff from 8 a.m. until sunset on Monday to honor the life of state Rep. Craig Tieszen.

His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. MST at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Fine Arts Theatre in Rapid City.

Tieszen died in a kayaking accident on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at the age of 68, while visiting the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. Brent Moline, his 61-year-old brother-in-law, also died in the accident.

He was serving his first term in the State House of Representatives, after having served in the State Senate from 2009 to 2016.
