Hot air balloons to take the sky of Sioux Falls this weekend

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Many people might be seeing hot air balloons floating through the sky in Sioux Falls for the Great Plains Balloon Race. The event is put on by the Sioux Falls Ballooning Association. The races will be at Kenny Anderson Park Softball Fields in Sioux Falls. The best place to park is in the lots by Kenny Anderson Park, Washington High School and surrounding streets.

There will be flights Friday night starting at 6:00 PM, Saturday morning and night, and Sunday morning. There will be a walk-in balloon set up Friday and Saturday about 4:30 PM that people can go in and check out.

Organizers say the event is free to watch, and you're encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit on. All of the races are weather permitting, so be sure to watch the Facebook event page for updates and cancellations.
