A Democrat has thrown his name in the race for a house seat in a central South Dakota legislative district.
Tyler Volesky will run for a seat in the South Dakota House of Representatives in District 22 next fall.
Volesky made the announcement via a press release. The 26-year-old is a 2014 graduate of Dakota Wesleyan. He is currently a legal assistant and also substitute teaches and coaches youth athletics in the Huron school system.
Volesky said he aims to run an energetic "person-to-person" campaign. In his press release, Volesky said he hopes to build a state government that is responsive to the needs of citizens, rather than the goals of special interests.
District 22 includes all of Beadle and Kingsbury counties. Two Republicans, Bob Glanzer and Roger Chase, currently occupy its two house seats.
