Jury trial set for former fire chief on child porn charges

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - A jury trial has been set for the former Sioux Falls Fire Rescue chief accused of possessing or distributing child pornography.

Jim Sideras attends a status hearing on August 9, 2018.

A judge set Jim Sideras' trial is set for the week of Nov. 26th. A motions hearing has also been set for Nov. 5, and the jury questionnaire and panel will begin Nov. 19.

The trial was originally scheduled to begin in July, but it was pushed back due to more information being unveiled that was critical to the case.

Sideras was arrested on child pornography charges back in May 2017 shortly after he announced his planned retirement from Fire Rescue. The City fired Sideras shortly afterwards.

He pleaded not guilty to ten counts of child pornography back in July 2017.
