UPDATE: Man found dead in Box Elder highway median identified

BOX ELDER, S.D. (AP) - UPDATE:

Investigators have identified a teenager who was found dead in a highway median in Box Elder.

According to the Pennington County Sheriff's Office, that teenager was 16-year-old Jaylen Twiss of Manderson, South Dakota.

Law enforcement responded to a report of a person lying in the media on Highway 14-16 near Gumbo Drive just after 3:20 a.m. Thursday.

Autopsy results showed the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a vehicle-pedestrian accident. They are looking for the driver and the vehicle involved.

Sheriff's officials think a man found dead in a highway median in Box Elder is the victim of a hit-and-run accident.

The Pennington County Sheriff's Office says the man was found in the median on Highway 14-16 on Thursday. They believe the man was in his early 20s or late teens and possibly of Native American descent.

Investigators are trying to track down the driver and vehicle involved.
