Morning thunderstorm knocks out power in southwest Minnesota

A severe storm knocked down power lines near Magnolia on Friday, April 13.

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KSFY) - More than 700 customers in southwest Minnesota started their Friday in the dark.

Sioux Valley Energy says a morning thunderstorm knocked down between 30 and 40 polls on the transmission line from Interstate 90 heading north and south at the Magnolia exit.

The damage has left about 770 customers without power.

Sioux Valley crews are working to repair the damage. They've also requested assistance from other companies.
