SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Sioux Falls fire officials say no one was home when a house caught fire Monday afternoon.
It happened in the 200 block of S. Prairie Avenue in Sioux Falls just before 1:20 p.m. Officials say it started in the first floor bathroom and burned up to the second floor.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue had the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Crews had to open the roof to provide ventilation.
The fire is under investigation. The home has minor smoke and fire damage, and it will be uninhabitable until repairs have been made, according to fire officials.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with four fire trucks, five support vehicles and 27 firefighters. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted on scene by the Sioux Falls Police Department, Paramedics Plus Ambulance, Xcel Energy, Mid-American Energy and the American Red Cross.
