No one hurt after home catches fire in Sioux Falls Thursday afternoon

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Officials say no one was hurt when a Sioux Falls home caught fire Thursday afternoon.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was called to the home in the 3200 block of S. Hawthorne Avenue around 4 p.m. where they found a small fire near the back.

The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes. Crews then ventilated the home and also removed a small portion of the exterior soffit to check for hot spots.

Officials said the home did not have a residential sprinkler system and received light smoke damage.

The American Red Cross was notified and offered assistance to the residents. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 18 personnel, four fire trucks and two support vehicles.

The fire’s cause is still under investigation.
