No one hurt in Sioux Falls house fire

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Authorities say no one was hurt after a fire broke out at a home in western Sioux Falls.

Firefighters responded to the fire on the 400 block of North Cockatiel Avenue around 1:40 a.m. Friday.

According to Battalion Chief Matt McAeavey, firefighters found flames coming through the roof of a split foyer single family home. Crews had to stay outside the home because the roof had partially collapsed.

Firefighters knocked down the flames in about 20 minutes. They were able to verify no one was in the home at the time of the fire.

No one was hurt in the blaze. However, the home did receive extensive damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
