Olympic athletes, coaches come to Sioux Falls to teach next generation

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - A group of elite track and field athletes and coaches from around the country are in Sioux Falls helping to coach the next generation of athletes.

They are in town for the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation Performance Clinics.

A group of former Olympians and Olympic coaches were at the camp teaching the young athletes.

They said the goal of the camp is to develop them into competitive elite athletes.

"We want to show them how to avoid the pitfalls that we learned as elite athletes so they don't waist their time," former Olympian and Olympic coach Tom Pukstys said.

The Sanford Sports Science Institute also did research on these athletes to help them perform at their best.

This is the first year the NSAF has hosted this kind of camp.
