One person killed in house fire in Marshall, MN

MARSHALL, MN - Fire Chief Marc Klaith for the city of Marshall, MN said one person was killed on Christmas Day in a house fire.

The Marshall Police Department has identified the victim as 49-year-old Kent Sikorski. Sikorski was the owner of the house and the only occupant inside at the time of the fire.

Firefighters were called to 615 Elaine Avenue at about 1:35 PM on December 25th. The firefighters put out the flames and had to dig through the rubble to recover Sikorski's body. Chief Klaith said they were on scene until about 9:15 PM that night.

The house was a total loss, but no other houses in the neighborhood received any damage. There were no injuries either.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minnesota fire marshal, the Marshall Police Department and the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
