SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Police say a man has been arrested on aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing another man in the chest during an argument about his girlfriend.

Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said police were called to a Sioux Falls hospital Sunday at 8 p.m. after a man showed up with a stab wound near his heart.

Police did not have a chance to speak with the victim, but the woman who drove him gave officers some information.

The incident happened at an apartment in the 200 block of N. Fairfax Avenue. Clemens said many people were there drinking.

The 49-year-old victim, a transient, was apparently talking to or hitting on the suspect's girlfriend, which upset him, Clemens said.

A fight began and the victim was stabbed. The knife was found outside the apartment building.

Officers arrested 42-year-old Rocky Hawk Yazzie, also a transient, for aggravated assault.

Police did not have an update on the victim's condition.
