Police: Woman hit man who was singing in her house with frying pan

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - A Sioux Falls woman is facing an aggravated assault charge after police say she hit a man who was singing over the head with a frying pan.

Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said three people were at 49-year-old Bernita Josette Sykes' home around 3 p.m. Saturday when the incident happened.

Clemens said the man was singing a song, and Sykes apparently did not like that, so she allegedly hit him with the pan.

The victim and a friend left the home and called police at a nearby business. Officers found Sykes on Sunday morning and arrested her.

The man's injuries were not serious. No word on what song he was singing.

Clemens said neither drugs or alcohol played a factor in the alleged assault.
