A powerful winter storm system continues to impact much of the Northern Plains region this morning. Low pressure is centered over northwestern Iowa and continues to produce snow and strong wind gusts of 30 to 50 mph across South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Blowing snow and blizzard conditions will continue through this morning.
As the system moves east today, light snow will end and the wind will slowly decrease. By this afternoon, wind gusts will drop to around 30 mph or less and driving conditions will gradually improve through the afternoon.
Most of the warnings and advisories that are in effect will expire by noon today. Northwestern Iowa is the exception... Warnings and advisories there will remain in effect through mid to late afternoon.
