Scholar of the Week: Elkton senior 'always giving 110%' with bright future ahead

Our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Samantha Schindler. She's a senior at Elkton High School.

Samantha is one of those girls you'd want in the classroom, on the field and on the court. She's a go-getter, according to teachers and classmates, who is always willing to help.

Samantha is pretty active outside the classroom.

"I'm in volleyball, basketball, sideline cheerleader for football. Oral Interp. I'm in FFA and FCA. I do track," Elkton Senior Samantha Schindler said.

Though, she loves to be in the classroom, too.

"My favorite class is human anatomy. I love the study of the body and I want to be a dental hygendist. Studying the bones and the structures really fascinates me," she said. "I do college algebra and composition too online. I do those thoughout the day. After that, I go to volleyball practice."

She takes those online classes to prepare for college, which doesn't surrpuse her high school principal Kelly Neill.

"She gives a 110%. She's the type of kid we can go up to, ask her to do something," Elkton Principal Kelly Neill said.

She says Samantha serves as a great role model.

"She doesn't slack on deadlines, on the field or in the clsasroom. She give sall of her teachers and coaches. that's important" Neill said.

After graduation, Samantha knows exactly what she's doing.

"I'll take my generals at Soutwest Minnesota State University in Marshall where my dad is a profesor. After that, I'll transfer that to Minnesota State in Mankato to get my degree in dental hygiene," Schindler said.

For being named the KSFY Scholar of the Week, Samantha receives a $100 scholarship from Lyon-Lincoln Electric Cooperative which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
