Scholar of the Week: Nathan Vetch

Nathan Vetch is a senior at Faulkton High School. He is an athlete participating in football, basketball and track. He's also in drama, FCCLA and yearbook. At the same time, he maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Nathan tells KSFY he really enjoys school and knows it'll lead to big things in the future.

"Doing good in school will help get you more scholarships and will help prepare you for college. So you're prepared and not having to worry about all of that," Nathan Vetch said.

He's also no stranger to hard work.

"Growing up on a farm, my parents taught me to work hard. That translates into school, too," Vetch said.

High School Principal Craig Cassens says this recognition was a no-brainer and Nathan is well-respected among his peers.

"He's involved in Drama. He's been in one-act play, that's provided our students a good role model so students realize they don't have to just play a game, play sports, they can expand their interest elsewhere too," Principal Craig Cassens said.

Next year, Nathan has his sights set on the University of Sioux Falls or Augustana University.

"I want to go somewhere in Sioux Falls because I like the city there. Either major in sports management or high school education with coaching," Vetch said.

But for now, he plans to enjoy every last moment of high school in Faulkton.

"All of the advisers and teachers are saying 'enjoy it while you can because it goes by fast' and that's true," Vetch said.

For being named a Scholar of the Week, Nathan receives $100 from FEM Electric Association which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
